The Transparent Sales Leader – Now Available

The Transparent Sales Leader: The structure of revenue leadership, optimized by science, on a bed of sincerity & transparency – now available!

When I wrote my first book, The Transparency Sale, I thought there was a decent chance it might suck. I’d never written to that level before. I figured I’d write it, and my friends would all say, “Oooh, look at you! Nice book!” then I’d go right back to being a CRO again somewhere. I wanted to get the ideas out there.

I had no idea the impact it would make.

This time is different.

Years ago, I received the call from my CEO, “We think you’re ready.”

I went from running sales operations for this mid-stage tech company, to running the entire sales organization. How cool!

Well, that endorphin rush quickly turned to consternation. I was used to having a process for sales – and teaching it! I had a structure, a foundation. In sales leadership, I was the proverbial dog chasing a car bumper – where every day was guided by wherever that day’s priorities led me.

I’m too much of a nerd for that. I couldn’t handle it. So, I took all of the responsibilities of building revenue capacity, categorized them, and created a structure for myself. I used it to plan and strategize, to communicate, and when the fires started burning, I had a framework and foundation to guide me…always. Two years later I was on-stage accepting an American Business Award for Vice President of Worldwide Sales of the Year at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas (if you want a laugh….and to see how I’m aging like guacamole, see my acceptance speech from 2009 here).

Over the years, I made it simpler. I optimized each element with the behavioral science…and sales history. Yes, the incredible minds from 1890-1930 that built our profession’s foundation.

It’s The Transparent Sales Leader. And it’s now available on Kindle and short-run paperback.

Kirkus Reviews, the king of independent literary reviews, calls it:

“An outstanding sales leadership manual that counters conventional wisdom.”

Amazon has it listed as #1 on its “Amazon Hot New Releases” list for Sales & Selling Management.

Soundview lists it on its #Books2Watch.

I wrote “This time is different” above because I’m so proud of this one. ~ 2 years of writing and research. And I actually think I know how to write now. I sincerely hope this book makes a huge impact on your career, whether you’re new to revenue leadership, or you’ve been doing it for 20+ years.

As Andy Kofoid, President of Global Field Operations of Databricks exclaimed,

“So many amazing ideas and moments in this book that will forever change the way I think about sales leadership.”

I seriously want to make this profession better. I love that you all embrace this stuff – it’s why I keep doing it. Thank you!

But I can ask for one more thing – if you’d be so inclined, I’d love it if you’d leave a review wherever you bought it. Those are so helpful in getting these ideas out to make a difference for leaders, those they lead, and the profession itself.

Due to printer and supply chain issues, the book is only being printed in paperback, and there aren’t all that many. We expect to have a hardcover version available by mid-July, and then a full run of both at the end of August into early September. I am also planning to record the audiobook version as soon as I can get the time and make that available, too. International distribution is happening along with all of this, but maybe a touch slower. Hang in there if you can’t get it – it’s coming!
